When you make official letter, certificate, invitation card, or cover page in Cambodia, adding a Khmer style Kbach border makes your document look very beautiful and professional. Let go learn!
Part 1: How to Make Custom Khmer Border Using Shapes & Tacteing Font (ស៊ុមក្បាច់)
Instead of standard borders, you can create a beautiful custom Khmer border around your text or page using Shapes and Tacteing Font (ហ្វុន តាក់តែង)!
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Insert Rectangle Shape Frame:
- Go to Insert tab => click Shapes => choose Rectangle.
- Draw a box shape around your text or page layout.
- Click Shape Format tab on top menu:
- Click Shape Fill => select No Fill (so your document text is visible inside!).
- Click Shape Outline => choose your line color (e.g. Gold or Blue) and Weight (line thickness like
2 ¼ ptor3 pt).
- Add Khmer Kbach Corners Using Tacteing Font:
- Go to Insert tab => click Text Box => choose Simple Text Box.
- Click Shape Format => set Shape Fill to No Fill and Shape Outline to No Outline.
- Go to Home tab and change font to Tacteing.
- Type corner keys on your keyboard (like
A,B,C, orShift + A) to turn typed letters into traditional Khmer Kbach corner symbols! - Position and copy the text box to all 4 corners of your rectangle shape box.
- Group Shapes Together:
- Hold
Ctrlkey and click the rectangle shape line and all 4 corner text boxes. - Right-click => select Group => Group (or press
Ctrl + G). Now your custom Khmer border moves as 1 single piece!

Part 2: How to Apply Border to Specific Page Only (e.g. First Page Only)
Normally, when you add Page Border, Word puts it on every page. But what if you only want border on the Cover Page (Page 1) or specific pages?
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Click on the page where you want the border.
- Go to Design tab => click Page Borders.
- Choose your border style, color, or art design.
- Look at bottom right corner under Apply to: dropdown menu:
- Select This section - First page only (if you want border on Page 1 cover page only!).
- Select This section - All except first page (if you want border on page 2, 3, 4... but no border on cover page).
- Select This section (if you created Section Break for specific pages).
- Click OK button.
> 💡 Tip: To put border on page 3 or 4 only, insert a Section Break first! Go to Layout => Breaks => Section Breaks (Next Page) before setting page border.
