Hello everyone! Today I show you three super useful formatting and productivity features in Microsoft Word โ€” Drop Cap, Hyperlink, and Screenshot!

Using these 3 features makes your document look like a professional magazine and saves you lots of time when attaching pictures or links. Let go learn!

Part 1: How to Create Drop Cap (Big First Letter)

Drop Cap makes the very first letter of a paragraph extra large โ€” just like you see in newspaper articles, magazines, and story books!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Click at the start of your paragraph or select the first letter.
  2. Go to Insert tab on top ribbon.
  3. Click the Drop Cap button (in Text group).
  4. Choose your style:
  • Dropped โ€” big letter wraps inside the paragraph text.
  • In Margin โ€” big letter stays outside in the left page margin.
  1. Click Drop Cap Options... if you want to change font style or change lines to drop (default is 3 lines).

> ๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Drop Cap works best at the beginning of a new chapter or main introductory paragraph!

Hyperlink turns any word or text into a clickable link that opens a website, email address, or another page inside your document.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Highlight the text you want to make clickable (for example: "Visit Our Website").
  2. Press shortcut key Ctrl + K on your keyboard (or right click => select Link).
  3. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, select Existing File or Web Page.
  4. Type your website URL in the Address: box (example: https://word.rean.me).
  5. Click OK. Your text turns blue with underline!

> ๐Ÿ’ก Tip: To open a hyperlink inside Word while editing, hold Ctrl key and click the blue text!

Part 3: Take Screenshot Directly Inside MS Word

Did you know Word has a built-in Screenshot tool? You don't need Snipping Tool, Paint, or extra apps to capture screen and paste into document!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open the website, folder, or program on your computer screen that you want to capture.
  2. Switch back to your Word document.
  3. Go to Insert tab => click Screenshot button (in Illustrations group).
  4. You will see a gallery of Available Windows:
  • Click any window thumbnail to insert full window screenshot instant.
  • Or click Screen Clipping to drag a custom box area on your screen!
  1. Word automatically inserts the captured picture right into your document!

> ๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Click Screen Clipping, wait 1 second for screen to turn frosted white, then click & drag to select exact area you want!
