Hello all guys! Welcome back to word.rean.me by Rean Computer 101! Today I show you how to make slide transitions and animate text or images in Microsoft PowerPoint!

Step 1: How to Add Transition Effect Between Slides

Transition is motion effect when you change from slide 1 to slide 2:

  1. Click on slide thumbnail on left panel.
  2. Go to Transitions tab on top ribbon.
  3. Select any transition style (e.g. Fade, Push, Wipe, Morph).
  4. Click Effect Options to change motion direction (Left, Right, Top, Bottom).
  5. Set Duration time (e.g. 01.00 second).
  6. Click Apply to All if you want all slides to use same transition effect!

Step 2: How to Animate Text, Images & Shapes

Animation is motion effect applied to individual text box, picture, or shape inside slide:

  1. Click on text box, image, or shape on your slide.
  2. Go to Animations tab on top bar.
  3. Select animation type from gallery:
  • Green Icons (Entrance): Object appears on slide (Fade, Fly In, Zoom).
  • Yellow Icons (Emphasis): Object pulses or rotates while on slide (Pulse, Spin).
  • Red Icons (Exit): Object disappears from slide (Disappear, Fade Out).
  1. Click Preview button on top left to test animation motion!

Step 3: How to Use Animation Pane & Set Trigger Timing

When you have many animations on 1 slide, use Animation Pane to manage order:

  1. On Animations tab, click Animation Pane button.
  2. Right panel opens showing list of all animated objects (1, 2, 3...).
  3. Click any item in list and set Start option at top right:
  • On Click: Animation starts when you click mouse or spacebar.
  • With Previous: Animation starts at same time with previous animation.
  • After Previous: Animation starts automatically after previous animation finishes!
